go to bed out of it – a night at Leaside Manor

Every year, Liam and I have a joint celebration for our birthdays. This year we chose to spend a night at the beautiful Leaside Manor, and we couldn’t have enjoyed our night more!Leaside Manor Trinity SuiteThanks to a special they had in the Christmas season, we booked the Trinity Suite at an excellent price. (Plus this doubled as a joint Christmas gift! We’re frugal people.)

The Trinity Suite is more of a small apartment. It has it’s own entrance, with a small porch that sits just below the room itself.

When you climb the stairs into the apartment, you are immediately enveloped in the warmth of the room. The colour scheme of turquoise and orange gives the room a wonderful vibrancy without being overwhelming. With little accents like the orange window seat and ottoman, or turquoise pillows and vases, it all ties together beautifully with the focal point of the room: the cozy white bed, enclosed in transparent turquoise curtains.

The decor is not the only source of warmth in the room however. At the foot of the bed is an electric fireplace, which is a welcome friend on a winter’s night. (Or heck, pretty much any night this July…) Curling up under the blankets while basking in the realistic orange glow is possibly one of the best ways to end the night.

If being this comfortable stresses you out, don’t worry. They’ve got that covered too. Tucked in a corner near the bed is a two person Jacuzzi tub. It’s the perfect way to unwind and relax.

The next morning, the wonderful staff takes care of your breakfast for you. If you’re feeling social, you can join other guests in the dining room area. Or if you’re more like me, and hate leaving a good, cozy bed, you can call your order up to the front desk, and within a short amount of time there’ll be a knock on your door. When you open it, a big, delicious breakfast is sitting on a table in front of the door, the staff having tiptoed away like some magical breakfast fairies.

When we’re looking for a staycation, Leaside Manor is one of our favourite places in St. John’s to go. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, the staff is kind and courteous, and unlike the stereotypical bed and breakfast mindset, the Leaside Manor is private and quiet. With multiple buildings tucked away on one of St. John’s most beautiful streets, it is the perfect not-so-hidden gem in the city.
